Dart Weather for Auto

Last updated: July 10, 2026

The short version

Dart Weather uses your location to show the weather where you are — no accounts, no ads, no advertising IDs, and no servers of ours storing anything about you. Release builds send anonymous crash reports and usage analytics to Firebase (Google) and PostHog so we can fix bugs and improve the app.

Where your location goes

Coordinates are rounded to about 1 km and sent over HTTPS only to fetch weather. Several alert sources receive no coordinates at all — the app downloads a national feed and filters it on-device:

ProviderUsed for
Pirate Weather, Open-Meteo, MET NorwayConditions, forecast, air quality
Your region’s national weather authority (NWS/NOAA in the US; ECCC, JMA, MeteoAlarm, WMO SWIC authorities, and more)Severe-weather alerts — many receive no coordinates
LibreWXR, RainViewer, IEM + map tiles (Mapbox or keyless CARTO)Radar, satellite, base map — coarse tile coordinates
Google Pollen, OSRM, OpenStreetMap (+ configured backups: OpenWeatherMap, Geoapify, LocationIQ)Pollen, routing, geocoding — when enabled; backups only if a primary fails

Never sold, never used for ads. Each provider has its own privacy policy.

What we don’t collect

Crash reports & analytics

Release builds send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics (stack trace, basic device info, a random per-install ID; deleted by Google after about 90 days) and usage analytics to Firebase Analytics and PostHog (which screens and features get used, a per-install ID, and a coarse 2-letter country code — never coordinates). None of it is linked to your identity or advertising ID, and debug builds send nothing.

This website (separate from the app) uses PostHog for privacy-first, cookieless visitor analytics — anonymous page views only, no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and Do Not Track is honored.

Storage and deletion

Your latest location and weather are cached encrypted on your device so the app starts instantly and survives brief signal drops; uninstalling deletes all of it — we keep nothing to delete. The app isn’t directed at children. If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above.

Personal use & your responsibility

Dart Weather is free, for personal, non-commercial use. Weather can be wrong, delayed, or unavailable — never rely on it for safety-critical decisions, and don’t let it distract you from driving. See the Terms of Service.
